Juniper, F5 Dodge Trial As Judge Quashes Implicit Patents

Law360, New York (March 14, 2013, 4:32 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Wednesday declared invalid two modular networking patents held by Implicit Networks Inc., killing infringement claims against Juniper Networks Inc. and F5 Networks Inc. on the eve of trial.

With just a month to go before a jury was scheduled to hear the case, U.S. District Judge Susan Illston ruled that Implicit's U.S. Patent Numbers 6,629,163 and 7,711,857 were both anticipated by a 1998 journal article on router software architecture published in Computer Communication Review.
