D.C. Circuit Declines To Stay FERC's Amaranth Fine

Law360 (December 13, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission won a major victory Thursday when a federal appellate court refused to stay the commission's $256 million order to show cause against Amaranth Advisors LLC, which stands accused of energy futures market manipulation.

The ruling also represents a win for FERC in its jurisdictional turf war with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission over which agency is Amaranth's proper enforcer.
