Court Slams IXYS With Damages In Chip Patent Case

Law360, New York (October 11, 2005, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal court has ordered chipmaker IXYS Corp. to pay $6.2 million in damages to International Rectifier Inc. after ruling that IXYS infringed IR’s patent for high-power semiconductor switching devices.

Although the court awarded damages to International Rectifier, the case is not yet closed, as a final judgment in the case has yet to be entered.

International Rectifier filed the suit against IXYS in 2000, alleging that the semiconductor manufacturer infringed three of its patents.
