Star Wars' Lucas Co. Sues Apple Over Speaker Patent

Law360, New York (March 15, 2013, 8:20 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. on Thursday was hit with an infringement suit in California federal court by THX Ltd., the theater acoustics company founded by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas, that claims the electronics maker's iPad and other devices encroach on its patent relating to certain narrow-profile speakers. 

In a complaint filed in California, San Rafael, Calif.-based THX claims the Apple iPad, iMac, iPhone 4 and other devices infringe U.S. Patent Number 7,433,483, which covers a narrow-profile speaker unit meant to improve the audio quality of electronic devices...
