Wal-Mart Off Hook For Reporting Child Nude Photos: 9th Circ.

Law360, Los Angeles (March 15, 2013, 11:00 PM EDT) -- The Ninth Circuit on Friday agreed with an Arizona federal judge that Wal-Mart Stores Inc. did not break privacy laws by informing police of suspected child abuse related to nude photographs of three young girls that a married couple developed at the store.

Plaintiffs A.J. and Lisa Demaree argued in their appeal that the megastore acted in bad faith by alerting authorities, which eventually led to Child Protective Services temporarily removing the couple's children. But the appeals court said Arizona state law didn't require anyone reporting...
