Sens. Want CMS To Delay Medicare Advantage Cuts

Law360, Washington (March 18, 2013, 3:07 PM EDT) -- Members of the Senate Finance Committee's leadership on Friday urged the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to postpone changes and proposed payment cuts to private Medicare Advantage plans, alleging stakeholders and the public haven't been given time to prepare for the upcoming changes.

In a letter to CMS Acting Administrator Marilyn Tavenner, Sens. Max Baucus, D-Mont., and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, criticized the agency's lack of transparency surrounding a proposed 2.3 percent rate reduction for Medicare Advantage plans in 2014 and the connected rating system. According...
