House Grounds Roller Coaster Amendment

Law360 (December 14, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Unmoved by an opening statement in the form of an ode to product safety delivered by Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Thursday rejected a proposal from the congressman that would have put amusement park rides under government oversight.

With a vote of 25-10, the committee rejected the amendment put forward by Markey, during the committee's consideration of the Consumer Product Safety Modernization Act.
