Weatherford Says JV Partner Stole Well-Monitoring Technology

Law360, Houston (March 19, 2013, 7:48 PM EDT) -- A subsidiary of oilfield services giant Weatherford International Ltd. on Tuesday alleged in Texas court that a British producer of fiber optics stole proprietary oil well-monitoring technology after a joint venture to produce well sensors never materialized.

Weatherford US LP claims that Silixa Ltd. is marketing optical monitoring systems that largely incorporate and capitalize on Weatherford’s designs, which the company confidentially disclosed to Silixa in 2008 during negotiations to produce the sensors collaboratively.
