Bill To Hasten Fla. Foreclosures Clears 1st Hurdle

Law360, Miami (March 20, 2013, 7:26 PM EDT) -- A bill targeting Florida's massive backlog of home foreclosure cases passed its first test Wednesday by advancing through the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee, but many panel members qualified their approval, saying they will scrutinize it as it continues its journey.

Bill sponsor Sen. Jack Latvala, R-Clearwater, characterized the foreclosure situation as “a very important policy issue and a very important problem we have right now in the state of Florida.”
