DOJ Called On To Scrutinize TPG-Midwest Deal

Law360 (December 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Independent competition watchdog the American Antitrust Institute has issued a white paper raising concerns about private equity group TPG Capital LP and Northwest Airlines Corp.'s $450 million proposed acquisition of Midwest Air Group Inc., Midwest Airline's parent.

The paper, issued Thursday, calls the structure of the proposed deal “unusual” and asks the U.S. Department of Justice to take a closer look into how it will affect competition in the airline industry, particularly in individual city-pair markets.
