Toyota Hauls Back Defective Tundra Trucks

Law360, New York (December 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. put the brakes on thousands of Tundra pickup trucks in the United States on Friday, citing problems with a propeller shaft connected to the rear axle.

The auto maker said it had launched the safety recall of 15,600 Tundra four-wheel-drive pickup trucks with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

“On certain 2007 model year Tundra vehicles, there is a possibility that a joint in the rear propeller shaft may have been improperly heat treated, resulting in insufficient hardness,” the company said...
