Apple IPhone Contracts Under Antitrust Scrutiny In EU

Law360, New York (March 22, 2013, 2:24 PM EDT) -- Europe's antitrust regulator publicly confirmed Friday that it was reviewing possible competition issues raised by European companies regarding Apple Inc.'s contracts with mobile providers for the sale of iPhones and iPads.

At a press conference, a spokesman for the European Commission's competition office confirmed previous media reports that the agency had received notices from “industry players” that Apple's distribution contracts could hamper competition, but stressed that no formal complaints had been filed.
