AHA Pursues Suit Over CMS Inpatient Billing Despite Ruling

Law360, New York (March 25, 2013, 6:53 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association has decided to move forward with its lawsuit challenging Medicare's policies for billing on denied hospital inpatient claims, rejecting the agency's argument that a new administrative ruling would resolve the hospital group's complaints.

The long-running conflict has centered on hospital inpatient claims to Medicare Part A that are denied by audit contractors because the care should have been provided on a less expensive outpatient basis.
