Texas Panel Urged To Greenlight Energy Commission Reforms

Law360, Houston (March 27, 2013, 10:50 PM EDT) -- A Texas lawmaker on Wednesday asked a state House panel to approve legislation limiting the window for campaign contributions to the state’s regulator of oil and gas development, an effort to increase transparency and eliminate perceived industry influence over the regulator's elected leaders.

Rep. Dennis Bonnen, R-Angleton, said the state House Energy Resources Committee should approve H.B. 2166, which would require the Texas Railroad Commission to adopt clear enforcement policies and penalty guidelines and impose strict limits on when campaigning commissioners can accept donations from oil...
