Grand Jury Probe Sought In NECC Meningitis Outbreak

Law360, Chicago (March 26, 2013, 6:55 PM EDT) -- Michigan's attorney general on Tuesday demanded a grand jury investigation into whether the New England Compounding Center, the company facing multidistrict litigation over a deadly nationwide meningitis outbreak, broke state laws when it allegedly distributed contaminated steroid injections.

Attorney General Bill Schuette lodged his petition for a multicounty grand jury with Michigan's court of appeals, saying there was probable cause to believe that NECC sent adulterated drugs to Michigan facilities and knew or had reason to know those drugs would cause great bodily harm or death....
