Sony Knew PlayStation Flouted TVI's Patents, Jury Told

Law360, San Francisco (March 26, 2013, 10:23 PM EDT) -- Sony Corp. knew about four TV Interactive Data Corp. video disc patents but infringed them anyway when it developed the PlayStation 3 and current-generation Blu-Ray players, TVI told a jury in California federal court during closing arguments Tuesday in its $84 million suit against Sony.

TVI founder Peter Redford testified early in the two-and-a-half-week trial that he had created the technology that tells a computer or console to play a DVD automatically, without the user having to type in a command, so his son could play movies...
