Apple Can't Kick Patent Suit Over Smartphone Sensors

Law360, Los Angeles (March 26, 2013, 10:57 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Tuesday refused to toss a patent holder's suit accusing Apple Inc., Nokia Inc. and other smartphone makers of infringing patents covering cellphones with image sensors.

U.S. District Judge Ron Clark adopted a magistrate's report and denied the defendants’ motion for summary judgment of noninfringement of several patents, saying he agreed with the earlier finding that the defendants hadn’t shown there was no material issue of fact regarding whether they had infringed Imperium (IP) Holdings Inc.'s patents.
