Texas Lawmakers Urge Frack Fluid Fee, Widened Pipeline Regs

Law360, Houston (April 3, 2013, 10:51 PM EDT) -- Texas lawmakers on Wednesday pushed a legislative panel to approve an array of bills aimed expanding the regulatory and enforcement powers of oil and gas regulators, incentivizing hydraulic fracturing wastewater recycling and protecting mineral interests during foreclosure proceedings.

State Reps. Lon Burnham, D-Fort Worth, and James Keffer, R-Eastland, urged the House Energy Resources Committee to adopt legislation which would, among other things, impose fees on the disposal of frack fluid, empower the Texas Railroad Commission to regulate some 77,000 miles of pipeline tributaries across the state...
