Ex-Refco Exec Strikes Deal, Pleads Guilty

Law360, New York (December 19, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- Santo Maggio on Wednesday reportedly became the first former Refco executive to plead guilty to conspiracy and fraud charges related to the commodities brokerage's 2005 implosion.

“Mr. Maggio today accepted responsibility for his criminal conduct. This is the first step towards making amends for it,” Dow Jones quoted his attorney Paul Shechtman of Stillman Friedman & Shechtman PC as saying at the Wednesday hearing in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
