Telemundo Must Face Telenovela Infringement Suit

Law360, New York (March 29, 2013, 6:03 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Wednesday ruled that a copyright-infringement suit filed by Venezuela's LaTele Television CA against Telemundo Communications Group LLC can proceed after finding that the Telemundo telenovela "El Rostro de Analia" shares substantial similarities with a LaTele program.

Telemundo asked the court to dismiss the suit, claiming LaTele failed to identify the specific part of its "Maria Maria" telenovela that El Rostro de Analia allegedly infringes, but U.S. District Judge Robin Rosenbaum said the suit can continue because the level of parallel details...
