ITC Suspects Qualcomm Is Violating Chip Import Ban

Law360, New York (December 20, 2007, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission announced Thursday that it is opening an investigation into cell phone maker Qualcomm Inc. to determine whether the company is violating a ban on importing chips that allegedly infringe patents held by rival Broadcom Inc.

“Notice is hereby given that the U.S. International Trade Commission has instituted a formal enforcement proceeding relating to a cease and desist order issued at the conclusion of the above-captioned investigation,” the ITC said in a public notice.
