NM Gov. OKs Space Travel Liability Law

Law360, New York (April 3, 2013, 3:45 PM EDT) -- New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez signed legislation Tuesday that limits the civil liability of companies that make or supply parts used in the commercial spaceflights currently being planned by Virgin Group Ltd. and requires them to purchase liability insurance.

The New Mexico Expanded Space Flight Informed Consent Act, which was approved unanimously by the state Legislature, would still allow space travelers to bring legal action against parts manufacturers and suppliers in cases of willful, wanton or reckless disregard.
