Blowout Preventer Co. Escapes Deepwater Oil Spill Charges

Law360, New York (April 3, 2013, 7:46 PM EDT) -- The Louisiana federal judge overseeing the Deepwater Horizon oil spill multidistrict litigation allowed blowout preventer manufacturer Cameron International Corp. on Wednesday to escape all charges in the case, according to an attorney representing the company.

Granting Cameron's motion to dismiss, U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier said he has heard no evidence during the ongoing liability trial to support a claim that Cameron contributed to the accident in any way, and that BP PLC and Transocean Ltd. were responsible for how they used the product, according to...
