Fewer IP Lawsuits Filed In 2007

Law360 (January 2, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- IP case filings fell slightly in 2007, mainly stemming from a sharp decline in copyright litigation as the music industry continues to scale back its enforcement against illegal online music downloading, according to Law360's analysis of U.S. federal court dockets.

Despite a 6% uptick in patent litigation in 2007 compared to cases filed the previous year, copyright litigation dropped 17% and trademark litigation decreased 7%, which brought down overall IP case filings by 8%.
