Ex-Aeropostale Exec Was Not A Kickback Schemer, Jury Hears

Law360, New York (April 9, 2013, 7:27 PM EDT) -- The former Aeropostale Inc. executive accused of orchestrating a $350 million kickbacks scheme with a supplier was a successful but unsophisticated retail expert who did no harm to the clothing giant, his attorneys told a New York federal jury in his opening statement Tuesday.

Aeropostale's ex-chief merchandising officer Christopher Finazzo was not a legal or accounting expert and helped Aeropostale reach record profits by inking deals with suppliers that quickly filled store shelves with stylish products, his attorney Robert Zito told a jury Tuesday.
