Agrium Beats Jana Shakeup Plan In Shareholder Vote

Law360, New York (April 9, 2013, 5:01 PM EDT) -- Shareholders in Canadian fertilizer company Agrium Inc. on Tuesday voted to appoint a full slate of board members handpicked by the company, beating out a hotly contested shakeup plan proposed by activist hedge fund Jana Partners LLC.

The final tally came a day after Jana declared a partial victory in the ongoing dispute between the firms, saying it had expected two of its five nominees to win investor approval.
