Panasonic Sheds Claims In Compressor Price-Fixing MDL

Law360, New York (April 10, 2013, 5:40 PM EDT) -- Panasonic Corp. and other refrigerant compressor makers on Tuesday beat several state-law antitrust and consumer protection claims from indirect purchasers accusing them of price-fixing in a multidistrict litigation, with a Michigan federal judge ruling many state statutes didn’t apply to the purchasers.

U.S. District Judge Sean F. Cox ruled that the consumers lacked standing to bring antitrust claims under almost all the state laws being invoked except for those of North Carolina and Minnesota.
