Drone Privacy Bill Sails Through Fla. Senate

Law360, Miami (April 10, 2013, 3:56 PM EDT) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott said he looks forward to signing a bill that would protect privacy rights by restricting law enforcement and other state agencies' use of drones to gather evidence, which passed the full state Senate on Wednesday.

The Florida Senate voted unanimously to pass S.B. 92, the Freedom from Unwarranted Surveillance Act, which sets rules for the use of drones without a warrant, while allowing exceptions for high-risk situations when swift action is necessary.
