Apple Wants Chunk Of $1B Samsung Patent Award Reinstated

Law360, New York (April 11, 2013, 2:47 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. asked a California federal judge Wednesday to reinstate $85.2 million of a jury’s landmark $1.05 billion award against Samsung Electronics Co. in the companies’ sprawling patent infringement battle, saying the money shouldn’t have been part of the amount later slashed from the verdict.

Apple said that figure, assessed for infringement by Samsung's Galaxy S II AT&T and the Infuse 4G smartphones, should not have been part of the more than $450.5 million that U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh axed from the original  $1.05 billion jury...
