Fortis' $1.5B NY Utility Buy Takes Flak From Local Lawmakers

Law360, New York (April 11, 2013, 6:56 PM EDT) -- A bipartisan group of county lawmakers told New York regulators Thursday they oppose Fortis Inc.'s planned $1.5 billion acquisition of Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp., criticizing the Canadian power giant for a purported disinterest in environmentally friendly energy sources.

The comments, from 13 members of Dutchess County's 25-member legislature, urged the New York State Public Service Commission to reject a deal that would pave the way for Fortis to buy the upstate utility.
