JAB Tops Up Coffee Unit With $9.8B Master Blenders Buy

Law360, New York (April 12, 2013, 12:57 PM EDT) -- German consumer products conglomerate Joh. A. Benckiser GmbH on Friday added to its coffee buzz by acquiring D.E. Master Blenders 1753 in a long-rumored deal valued at €7.5 billion, or $9.8 billion.

JAB, which had been reviewing Amsterdam-based Master Blenders' books since at least March, will pay €12.50, or $16.36, per share, which is lower than the reported initial bid of €12.75 per share that was rumored when the prospects of the deal first arose.
