CIT Agrees With Customs On Teva Sports Sandals

Law360, New York (April 15, 2013, 6:01 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Court of International Trade sided with customs officials Friday and ruled that several types of Teva-brand sport sandals sold by Deckers Outdoor Corps. didn't belong in the same tariff category as basketball and tennis sneakers.

The trade court rejected Deckers' bid to get the Teva sandals lumped into a sportier subheading that also includes gym shoes and training shoes, instead saying that U.S. Customs and Border Protection had been correct when it classified the sandals with other open-toed and open-heeled footwear.
