Texas Gov. Rick Perry Wants $1.6B In Business Tax Cuts

Law360, Houston (April 15, 2013, 10:40 PM EDT) -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry on Monday upped the ante in his effort to make the state even more business-friendly, pushing lawmakers to adopt nearly $1.6 billion in tax relief for all Texas businesses subject to the state's franchise tax.

Flanked by Sen. Robert Deuell, R-Greenville; Rep. Harvey Hilderbran, R-Kerrville; and state business leaders, Perry announced a four-point plan to lower franchise tax rates “across the board” by 5 percent and provide a $1 million deduction for businesses with revenues up to $20 million, among other things....
