News Corp. Tabloid Editor Hit With UK Bribery Charges

Law360, New York (April 18, 2013, 12:55 PM EDT) -- British authorities announced Thursday that a former editor of Rupert Murdoch’s Sun tabloid newspaper will face criminal charges for bribery of a public official, part of ongoing investigations into the phone hacking scandal that has reshaped the U.K. press landscape.

Fergus Shanahan has been charged with conspiracy in connection with his alleged authorization of nearly $11,000 in bribes to an undisclosed public official in exchange for information, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
