Siemens' $2.7B Invensys Rail Buy Notches EU Approval

Law360, New York (April 18, 2013, 5:43 PM EDT) -- Antitrust authorities in the European Union on Thursday cleared Siemens AG's proposed £1.74 billion ($2.66 billion) purchase of Invensys PLC's railway signaling business, saying the deal would not threaten competition.

The European Commission decided to allow Siemens to move forward with its planned purchase of Invensys Rail, that company's railway signaling division. The regulator said in a statement that, after reviewing the deal for potential competitive concerns, it was satisfied that the combined company would still face active rivalry.
