MF Global Judge Axes 'Frivolous' $35M Claim

Law360, New York (April 18, 2013, 8:27 PM EDT) -- A New York bankruptcy judge on Thursday threw out a $35 million claim against MF Global Holdings Ltd. and ordered the claimant to pay a fine, saying she had no direct relationship to the fallen firm and that her claim was frivolous.

The claimant, Michelle Y. Coe, brought what she deemed an administrative expense claim against the broker-dealer and futures commission merchant related to MF Global predecessor Man Financial's 2005 purchase of assets from now-defunct financial services company Refco Inc.
