VirnetX Sues Microsoft For Breaching $200M Patent License

Law360, San Francisco (April 22, 2013, 8:23 PM EDT) -- VirnetX Holding Corp. hit Microsoft Corp. with a new patent infringement suit in Texas federal court Monday, claiming the software giant's Skype and Lync programs violate six VirnetX patents — three years after the company won a $106 million verdict against Microsoft for infringing some of the same patents.

In the new suit, VirnetX accuses Microsoft of knowingly infringing the patents on technology related to secure network communications. Following the 2010 verdict, Microsoft paid VirnetX $200 million to license two of those patents, but that agreement...
