Jury Clears BP In $423M Cleanup Suit

Law360, New York (January 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- BP America Inc. has prevailed in a Kansas class action involving alleged property damage from environmental contaminants that could have cost the energy giant hundreds of millions of dollars.

A group of plaintiffs that included the City of Neodesha, Kan., failed to convince a jury that BP should fork over $423 million to cover cleanup and damage costs that allegedly stemmed from a refinery operated by BP's corporate predecessor, Amoco.
