FDA Ordered To Create New Deadlines For Food Safety Rules

Law360, New York (April 23, 2013, 1:44 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Monday told the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to establish new deadlines for the rollout of Food Safety Modernization Act rules, finding the agency broke the law by failing to meet deadlines set by Congress.

U.S. District Judge Phyllis Hamilton instructed the FDA to work with the two groups that sued the agency over the delay, the Center for Food Safety and the Center for Environmental Health, to create a timetable that satisfies all three parties.
