7th Circ. Finds American Red Cross Sought To Bust Union

Law360, New York (April 23, 2013, 5:23 PM EDT) -- The American Red Cross made one-sided changes to terms of employment under a newly elected union in a way that was meant to undermine the union and did indeed harm it, the Seventh Circuit ruled Tuesday.

A three-judge panel partly affirmed a lower court's ruling in favor of a union of blood collection specialists that was elected in 2007 and certified in 2010, after the humanitarian group made a number of changes to the union employees’ employment terms without consulting the union, the order said.
