MetroPCS Shareholders Greenlight $1.5B T-Mobile Merger

Law360, New York (April 24, 2013, 2:04 PM EDT) -- Shareholders of MetroPCS Communications Inc. on Wednesday approved Deutsche Telekom AG's sweetened $1.5 billion proposal to merge its T-Mobile USA Inc. subsidiary with the Texas mobile servicer, ending a long-running chase that had drawn fierce opposition from shareholders and advisers.

With the investor go-ahead locked down, Deutsche Telekom said it has secured all required approvals and plans to finalize the transaction by May 1. Together, T-Mobile and MetroPCS will be the fourth-biggest U.S. wireless operator, behind rivals Verizon Wireless, AT&T Inc. and Sprint Nextel Corp....
