Vote On Labor Head Delayed After GOP Calls Up Whistleblower

Law360, New York (April 24, 2013, 8:34 PM EDT) -- A Senate committee vote on Thomas Perez's nomination to serve as labor secretary was postponed Thursday after a Republican senator invited a whistleblower to testify to a subcommittee about a case Perez allegedly stopped the government from supporting.   

The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee's executive session on Perez's nomination has been delayed until May 8, while a subcommittee hearing on whistleblowers and job safety, which was also set for Thursday, has been postponed indefinitely.
