DOI Offers 21M Gulf Acres For Offshore Drilling

Law360, New York (April 24, 2013, 7:15 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of the Interior on Wednesday said it would offer more than 21 million acres in the Gulf of Mexico off the Texas coast for oil and gas drilling, after reaping $1.2 billion in an auction of Central Gulf blocks last month.

The DOI and its Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said the lease sale — which will be held in New Orleans and is tentatively set for Aug. 28 — will include all available unleased areas in its Western Gulf of Mexico planning...
