Ill. Chronic Pain Bill Will Cost Patients Proper Care, FTC Warns

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 4:28 PM EDT) -- Illinois legislation that would bar advanced practice registered nurses from providing an array of treatments for chronic pain threatens to drive up prices and limit access to care, staff at the Federal Trade Commission warned in a letter released Wednesday.

In an April 19 letter, FTC staff cautioned that “higher out-of-pocket prices, more limited hours and reduced distribution of services throughout the state” are likely to result if lawmakers approve S.B. 1662, known as the Interventional Surgical Pain Procedures for Chronic Pain Act.
