Texas Plant Blast Likely Caused $100M In Insured Losses

Law360, New York (April 24, 2013, 3:13 PM EDT) -- A massive explosion at a Texas fertilizer plant that killed up to 15 and wreaked extensive property damage last week is expected to cause $100 million in insured losses, an insurance industry group said Wednesday.

The blast in West, Texas, injured up to 200 people and destroyed 140 homes, including a nearby apartment complex and retirement home, the Insurance Council of Texas said.
