KC And The Sunshine Band Boogie Royalty Row Out Of Court

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 5:53 PM EDT) -- A Florida federal judge on Thursday tossed a lawsuit claiming disco act KC and the Sunshine Band illegally withheld royalties to late member Ronnie Smith, ruling that the now much-trimmed case belongs in state court.

In October, Smith's son sued the band, frontman Harry Wayne Casey and Casey's record label Sunshine Sound Entertainment, claiming his father hadn't been fully paid for songs he wrote and recorded for the label in the 1970s.
