NuVasive Hit With Patent Suit Over Bone Screw Device

Law360, New York (April 25, 2013, 5:47 PM EDT) -- Medical device company AngleFix Tech LLC sued rival NuVasive Inc. in California federal court Wednesday for marketing spinal surgery equipment that allegedly infringes a patented screw-and-plate system used in orthopedic operations.

The complaint from North Carolina-based AngleFix concerns U.S. Patent No. 6,955,677, a fastening apparatus and method that NuVasive allegedly copied in its Helix Anterior Cervical Plating System, which is used in the cervical spine of the neck to provide stabilization.
