N.J. Awaits Governor's OK On Wrongful Death Suit Bill

Law360, New York (January 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- New Jersey trial lawyers, consumer groups and insurers are among those closely watching as the governor prepares to weigh in on a contentious bill that would open the door to wrongful death lawsuits, after the measure squeezed through the state legislature this week.

The bill would lift a 130-year-old ban on lawsuits seeking compensation for the death of a child, a senior citizen, a homemaker, a disabled person, an unemployed person, a volunteer, an unmarried person or a priest.
