AT&T Slams DOJ Push For Competition In Spectrum Auctions

Law360, New York (April 26, 2013, 6:38 PM EDT) -- AT&T Inc. has blasted the U.S. Department of Justice's call for the Federal Communications Commission to help smaller wireless providers compete in an upcoming auction of low-frequency spectrum, according to a filing made public Thursday.

In a letter to the five-member FCC, AT&T general counsel Wayne Watts said his company strongly disagreed with the DOJ's plea for the commission to ensure that smaller nationwide wireless networks, such as Sprint Nextel Corp. and Deutsche Telekom AG's T-Mobile, would be able to purchase spectrum, or airwaves.
