2 Mont. Hospitals Pay $4M To Settle Medicare Fraud Claims

Law360, New York (May 1, 2013, 7:09 PM EDT) -- Two Montana hospitals agreed Wednesday to pay more than $3.95 million to the U.S. government to resolve allegations that they wrongfully provided bonuses to physicians for making referrals to the hospitals, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

St. Vincent Healthcare and Holy Rosary Healthcare, hospitals under the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, reached a settlement agreement over allegations that it violated the Stark Law and the False Claims Act by improperly paying physicians to make referrals to the hospitals, the DOJ announced Wednesday.
